Overview
Medium-payload indoor autonomous mobile robot from Omron that carries up to 650 kg at up to 2.2 m/s. It weighs 220 kg without its battery, navigates by laser localisation against a map made in MobilePlanner, has two safety laser scanners (360 degree) plus two low lasers, and runs 10 h unloaded (8 h at full payload) on a removable 51.2 V, 38 Ah LiFePO4 battery that charges from 20% to 80% in 19.6 minutes. Rated IP22 for indoor use and managed with Omron FLOW fleet software (up to 100 AMRs). The MD-900 (900 kg, 1.8 m/s) shares the platform and is a separate model.

Key facts
- Official datasheet (Cat. No. I885-E-06, MD Series, copyright 2023-2026, robotics.omron.com, fetched 2026-10-17): 220 kg without battery or accessories, payload 650 kg, 2,200 mm/s forward and reverse, run time 10 h unloaded and 8 h at full payload (auxiliary power draw reduces this), IP22 (IP10 charging pads; top plate plugs must be fitted), ambient 5-40 C, humidity 5-95 % non-condensing, ISO 4 cleanroom rating (AMR plus charging components together), step 10 mm, gap 20 mm, slope 5 degrees, min floor flatness FF25.
- Battery (datasheet): LiFePO4, 40-57 VDC (51.2 V nominal), 38 Ah nominal, 2,048 Wh nominal, 29 kg, charge 20-80 % in 19.6 minutes, about 3,000 cycles, IP33. Battery is removable and ordered separately (73330-100), so total weight with battery is about 249 kg (220 + 29), not a published figure.
- Stop repeatability (single AMR, datasheet): +/-55 mm to a position, +/-25 mm to a standard target, +/-8 mm with HAPS, +/-4 mm with CAPS software alignment.
- Dimensions: the MD AMR drawing in the official datasheets (Omron US RevF and Omron EU) carries unlabeled numbers (944, 1194, 320 and others) with no axis names, and no labeled height appears in the datasheet text, the product page or the EU datasheet, so height, length and width are not recorded (height_cm was 32 from an unlabeled 320 and was removed on 2026-10-19).
- Datasheet revision: the version at the URL above is Cat. No. I885-E-06 (RevF in the file name, 2025/08 upload, footer 0826 (0923)). The task brief named RevE; the fetched current file is this later revision and its values are used.
- Launch: Omron announced the MD-650 and MD-900 on 2023-08-31 in Japan and 2023-11-13 in Europe (Omron Europe news, fetched 2026-10-17); the European release quotes 8 h on a 30-minute charge, which differs from the current datasheet (8 h at full payload, 19.6 minutes for 20-80 %). The datasheet is used.
- Omron's robotics site (fetched 2026-10-17) announces a new LD Series generation as 'coming soon' but lists the MD Series (up to 900 kg) as a current product; the MD series is not on its discontinued list as an entry for the MD-650.
- Same platform as the MD-900 (900 kg, 1.8 m/s, minimum floor compressive strength 9.4 MPa vs 7.2 MPa); the MD-900 is not added in this entry.
- No Wi-Fi/ROS/SDK details beyond IEEE 802.11 a/b/g and RJ-45 maintenance ports in the datasheet; sdk and ros_support are false as not documented. Onboard compute is not stated.
