Overview

Open-source mobile manipulator from Hello Robot, launched in May 2026 as the successor to Stretch 3. It stands 160 cm tall on a 43 cm round, three-wheel omnidirectional base, with a 120 cm lift and a telescoping arm of 55 cm reach plus a 6 cm wrist. The maker rates it at 9 DOF, 2.5 kg payload with the arm extended (4 kg retracted), 46 kg total weight and up to 8 hours of runtime on a 512 Wh quick-swap LiFePO4 battery. Perception is two 3D hemispherical lidars and RGB cameras on the head plus a stereo depth camera on the wrist; compute is an Intel NUC 15 with an optional NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX. It runs open-source ROS 2 and a Python SDK and costs US$29,950; it is certified only for laboratory and research use.

Key facts

• Official datasheet (Rev5 as launched, fetched 2026-10-17): 9 DOF = 3-wheel omnidirectional base, 1 lift, 1 telescoping arm, 3-axis wrist, plus optional end-of-arm tool. Lift range 120 cm at 50 cm/s, arm extension 55 cm at 70 cm/s, base top speed 60 cm/s, 20 mm threshold clearance.
• Payload: 2.5 kg with arm extended, 4 kg with arm retracted (datasheet). payload_kg uses the 2.5 kg extended figure.
• Footprint: the datasheet says 43 cm diameter, the product page says 45 cm; the datasheet figure is the one quoted here.
• Runtime 8 hours is stated by the maker for light CPU load; heavier compute or manipulation will shorten it. Battery is 512 Wh LiFePO4 with quick-swap.
• Weight 46 kg total, or 33 kg with the ballast removed for transport (datasheet).
• Compliance: the datasheet and purchase page say the robot is intended for research, development and laboratory use only and is not certified for FCC Class A; the purchase page also notes a DoD 1260H designation that may restrict purchases with some government funds. certifications is therefore empty.
• Warranty: 12 months standard with a 30-day return policy (purchase page); datasheet mentions an optional 2-year service plan, the shop sells a 3-year extended warranty at US$2,495.
• Successor to Stretch 3 (hello-robot-stretch-3, US$24,950); the older robot's file should get successor_id hello-robot-stretch-4. Hello Robot states it does not offer upgrades from Stretch 3.
• DOF 9 counts the mobile base as 1 DOF, so it is not directly comparable with Stretch 3's 7.
