Cobot prices in 2026: Universal Robots vs Dobot vs Fairino, from 26 shop listings

Short answer. In October 2026 a 5 kg cobot arm costs from €4,899 (Fairino FR5) and €5,293 (Dobot Nova 5) through €14,600 (Dobot CR5A) to €30,619 (Universal Robots UR7e, the renamed UR5e) at European shops, excluding VAT. The UR7e arm costs 6.2 times the Fairino FR5, or 4.2 times per kg of payload, because it carries 7.5 kg. The arm is not the whole budget: with a €4,950 gripper and an assumed €25,000 of integration, our example cell comes to about €35,800 with the Fairino and €60,600 with the UR. None of the three makers publishes a list price, so every figure below is a dated shop listing with its link.

Prices were collected on 16–17 October 2026 from public shop listings, not quotes. Our robot specs and price registry has a page for each arm.

Cobot prices 2026 at a glance: UR vs Dobot vs Fairino

Fairino and the Dobot Nova series cost about a sixth of a comparable Universal Robots arm; Dobot's industrial CRA series sits in between. The fifth column is the cheapest listing found, excluding VAT where the shop states it.

How to read these prices These are shop prices: Universal Robots' pages show only "Get pricing", Fairino's "Request Quote", and Dobot sells through distributors. The 4 Vention listings and HowToRobot do not say whether VAT is included. Each arm's page in our robot registry keeps the dated listings we recorded for it; the Welectron FR5, Unchained Robotics CR5A and Robotiq prices above are not there yet.

Why the same arm costs 27–48% more in the US

For 5 arms we found both a European and a US listing, and the US price was higher every time. Converted at the ECB reference rate of 16 October 2026 (1.1253 US dollars per euro), the gap runs from 27% on the Fairino FR5 to 48% on the Dobot CR5A.

Arm EU listing EU in USD US listing US higher by

The listings do not say why, and scope differs (Top3DShop's Dobot prices include the pendant). For a buyer, the seller moves the price as much as the brand does, so get two written quotes with the same scope before comparing brands.

What the cobot price includes, and what it leaves out

A cobot price covers the arm and its controller, and nothing that touches the part. Three items decide whether two prices are comparable:

Every robot page in our registry has an "Ask for a price" form: we check the current price, lead time and delivery to your country and reply by email. Start with the Fairino FR5, the Dobot CR5A or the UR7e.

What a working cobot cell costs

In our example a working cell costs 2 to 7 times the arm, and the cheaper the arm, the smaller its share. One 5 kg pick-and-place cell, priced two ways:

Item Fairino FR5 cell UR7e cell
Arm and controller (lowest EU listing, net)€4,899€30,619
Teach pendant€985Included
Gripper (Robotiq 2F-85)€4,950€4,950
Guarding, installation, programming (assumption)€25,000€25,000
Cell total€35,834€60,569
Arm's share of the cell14%51%
Where the money goes in a 5 kg cobot cell, Fairino FR5 vs UR7e FR5 cell €35,834 UR7e cell €60,569 Arm and controller Pendant and gripper Integration (assumed €25,000)
A 6.2 times difference in arm price becomes a 1.7 times difference in cell price.

The €25,000 for guarding, installation and programming is an assumption, not a market figure. Our simulation of four cobots on one palletizing task used the same €25,000 but counted the gripper inside it; here the gripper is a separate line, so the totals are higher. Two public sources bracket it. Standard Bots' 2026 cobot price guide puts tooling, vision and integration at $5,000 to $30,000 on top of the arm. In MIT interviews with manufacturers (Sanneman, Fourie and Shah), one large robot maker and integrator said integration costs 4 to 5 times the robot (one interviewee, speaking mostly about industrial robots). On a €4,899 arm that is €19,600 to €24,500.

The cheaper arm saves €24,735 here, but not in proportion to its price. Pin down the integration line first: get the integrator's quote before negotiating the arm.

Buying in the EU: duty, CE marking and lead times

If you import a Chinese cobot yourself, customs duty is small. The EU third-country duty on industrial robots, CN code 8479 50 00, is 1.7%, about €83 on a €4,899 Fairino FR5. Import VAT comes on top. Chinese makers publish no factory prices, so compare a factory quote with the EU dealer's price, which already covers shipping and customs.

A cobot arm on its own is partly completed machinery. The integrator who builds the cell runs the risk assessment and CE-marks the whole cell; from the arm's seller, ask for the declaration of incorporation and the safety certificates as files before you order. The EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive on 20 January 2027, so a cell commissioned after that date is assessed under the new regulation.

Listed lead times run from 1–3 working days (Fairino FR5 at Welectron, within Germany) to 4 weeks (UR16e at Vention); the Robotiq gripper takes 4–6 weeks, so the gripper, not the arm, can set your start date.

Sourcing from China, someone also has to test the arm on your parts before it ships. We do that, with paperwork and shipping, in our China robotics consulting work from Hangzhou.

Which cobot to choose: price is not the only difference

In our simulation the Fairino FR5, Dobot CR5 and UR5e ran the same palletizing task in the same 5.05 s cycle at collaborative speed, so there the price gap bought no speed. What it does buy:

To settle it for your task, run your part and station on two or three candidate arms before buying. That is what our robot simulation service does; how we simulate a robot cell before you buy shows the method.

FAQ

How much does a Universal Robots UR5e cost in 2026?

Universal Robots renamed the UR5e to UR7e in 2025 and raised its payload to 7.5 kg. In October 2026 European shops list the UR7e at €30,619 excluding VAT at Unchained Robotics (Vention lists the same €30,619 without stating VAT) and €31,932 excluding VAT at MyBotShop, with control box and teach pendant. A leftover UR5e listing at WiredWorkers shows the same €30,619. Universal Robots publishes no price.

How much does a Fairino FR5 cost?

From €4,899 excluding VAT (€5,830 with 19% German VAT) at Welectron in October 2026 for the IP54 version (the black IP54 version is €6,544), for the arm, control box, safety box and power cable. The teach pendant is €985 extra. HowToRobot lists the FR5 from €6,499, and Top3DShop in the US at $6,999 with the pendant an $800 add-on. Fairino publishes no list price.

How much does a Dobot cobot cost?

It depends on the series. At OpenELAB in Germany, excluding VAT, the MG400 desktop arm costs €2,293, the Nova 2 €4,852 and the Nova 5 €5,293. The industrial CRA series costs more: the CR5A from €14,600 and the CR10A from €21,100 at Unchained Robotics. In the US, Top3DShop lists the CR5A at $24,320 and the CR10A at $33,380.

What does a complete cobot cell cost?

Much more than the arm. In our example a 5 kg cell costs about €35,800 with a Fairino FR5 and about €60,600 with a UR7e: arm, teach pendant, a €4,950 Robotiq 2F-85 gripper, and €25,000 assumed for guarding, installation and programming. That last figure is a placeholder; your integrator's quote replaces it.

Is it cheaper to buy a Chinese cobot directly from China?

Sometimes, but customs duty is not the reason. The EU duty on industrial robots (CN 8479 50 00) is 1.7%, about €83 on a €4,899 arm. Chinese factories publish no prices, so compare a factory quote plus freight, import VAT and a pre-shipment test against an EU dealer's price, which already covers the import.
